Thai Pancakes from a street stand on Phi Phi Island

I was so excited when I saw the sign for Thai pancakes, but when I walked up to the vendor, I was a little disappointed to find out that they were just crepes. They were still delicious though.

Hey Joe. This is Raj Maitra from Cambridge. I like your blog stuff about Korea. Pretty funny stuff. I hope all is well with you. Good luck with TOPIK. Questions: Do you watch Korean Soccer? What was it like in South Korea when they heard that in North Korea Kim Jong-il died?

HOLY SHIT. I was in Thailand with Chyl and you came up in conversation and I started laughing once I saw this message. Here’s for your questions:

I don’t follow Korean soccer much. Koreans love the sport though. It’s the most televised sport in the country. Koreans follow their own league and they’re very interested in the English Premier League, since Park Ji-Sung plays on Manchester United.

It was huge news when Kim Jong-il died. However, it didn’t affect the daily lives of most South Koreans. I actually knew that he died before some of the South Koreans that I know did. It’s pretty interesting since most South Koreans don’t pay attention to what goes on in the northern half and they don’t expect a war to happen like people might first assume.

Screen golf is my new hobby. Luckily, the last day of Korean class is Friday. However, winter camps are starting soon and I am taking the TOPIK in January. I am also picking up two new hobbies, woodworking and leathercraft. I am signing up for woodworking classes with a friend and I ordered leathercrafting tools last week. So, it looks like blogging is still in the backseat, but I will try to post enough so everyone knows I am still alive.

Top 40 Korean foods according to CNN

Top 40 Korean foods according to CNN:
I think that it’s a pretty fair list, although I think that bibimbab and galbi are too low on it. The term at my academy was ending, there was a speech contest I had to prep some of my students for (they took first place), and some good friends were leaving Korea so there were all the good-bye parties to go along with it. However, I am back on the ball now and I have decided to try being a little more productive. The big thing is, that I am going to take the TOPIK in January and I am going to a Korean language hagwon to study. I am actually on the bus right now and its the first day of class. The academy is pretty far, but I still think its worth it. I will be attending the academy four days a week from 10AM-1PM until December 23rd. I am not entirely sure what to expect yet, but I am sure it will be a funny story to tell later.

This was the strangest thing I saw in Hong Kong while I was...

This was the strangest thing I saw in Hong Kong while I was there, just a bag of live frogs.
